                         MAT (Management Aptitude Test)

It is a national-level entrance exam for the admissions to MBA/PGDM courses conducted by ALL INDIA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (AIMA). This exam is conducted in three modes- online (computer based), offline (paper based), and remote (internet based) modes. The candidates can choose the mode according to their needs and preferences. Fees, exam pattern and syllabus are same in all the modes but exam dates are different. The exam is conducted multiple times in a year in four phases- February, May, September, December. Qualifying candidates can enter in 800+ B-schools in India through this exam. The time duration given to the candidates is 2 hours and 30 minutes.  The syllabus includes-

·         Language Comprehension

·         Data Analysis and Sufficiency

·         Mathematics (Quantitative Aptitude)

·         Intelligence and Critical Reasoning

·         Indian and Global Environment

  

The exam is conducted in English language and the fees for the exam is INR 16,50 ( INR 1,100  additionally for second test mode. Number of applicants per year is 18000-20000 (approx). The results of the exam of all the three modes are declared on the same day of the particular session. Candidates can download their respective results through their login details. The results is declared on the AIMA website.

MAT EXAMINATION PREPARATION TIPS

·         Candidates need atleast six months to prepare for the MAT Exam. They should focus on improving their problem solving skills through solving online mock test papers and solving previous question papers.

·         Read books, magazines, newspapers on a daily basis to improve reading skills, understanding skills.

·         Target topics for carrying more weightage in each section of MAT to score well in exams.

·         Time management is the key to score well in exams by attempting maximum questions, don’t waste your time on tricky or tough questions.

MAT Eligibility Criteria

   All Candidates must fulfil MAT eligibility criteria 2022 in order to appear for the MAT exam. The minimum qualification for appearing in the MAT exam is graduation with 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST) from any recognized University.

A final year student in any undergraduate course (i.e. BA, BSc, B. com, B. tech, BBA, etc) can also appear. Candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. There is no age limit to apply for the MAT exam. There is no limit on the number of attempts for taking the exam, therefore candidates are eligible to take the exam.

 

  How to Choose the Best MAT Testing Mode?


Making a choice among Internet based test or Paper based test or computer based test depends upon various factors - your preference, Internet based, computer based or Paper based test solving skills among others. 

 

If you have good knowledge of computers - how to take and appear in computer based tests, navigation tools, scrolling of questions, choosing the answers and marking them and find that test taking is easier in computer based test, you can go for the computer based test.

 

If you are in remote area, do not have good internet connection, are not well known with computers, internet technology, have confusion in navigation tools, it is better to go for paper based exam.

 Mat exam is taken by about 4 lakh candidates every year, making it one of the most popular management test for candidates who wants to pursue an MBA in India.

1.      Flexible schedule: Mat exam is conducted four times a year, in February, May/June, September, and December. There is no limit to the number of times a candidate can appear for the exam.
