CAT (Common
admission test)
The common
admission test is a computer based test for graduate management students. It
includes three sections: verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC), Data
interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR) and quantitative ability (QA).
The CAT exam is conducted once in year and
taken online over a period of three hour with one hour per section. Basically,
this exam is compulsory entrance exam for aspiring candidates who wants to
pursue career in management and business administration that is MBA (Master of
Business Administration).
CAT exam is
conducted by the Indian institute of management. To get admission into the IIMs
(Indian Institute of Management) and tops Business Schools in India.
There are
over 20 IIMs tops universities in India namely: IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM
Kozhinkodo, IIM Indore, IIM Shillong, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM
Kashipur, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, IIM Amritsar and many more top B Schools in India.
Fees
criteria:
In order to
fill the CAT 2022 application form, candidates will have to pay the CAT exam
registration fee of Rs2,200 for general/unreserved category and Rs1,100 for
SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories.
The registration process of CAT will take from
the first week of august (likely by august 3) on the IIMs official website
iimcat.ac.in and will end in the third week of September (likely by September
23).
Registration
form for CAT will only be available in online mode. The CAT exam will be
conducted on November 27. The official CAT 2022 notification will be released
on july31. The CAT exam will be held in three slots: Morning, slot 1: 8:30 AM
to 10:30 AM Afternoon, slot 2: 12: PM to 2:30 PM Evening, slot 3: 4:30 PM to
6:30 PM.

Eligible
criteria:
- In order to be eligible for the
CAT exam, the candidates has to pass their bachelor degree with at least
50% (For general category) and 45% required for SC/ST and differently
abled candidates. Some Institutes accept other competitive exam scores
like XAT, MAT, GMAT, NMAT, SNAP, etc.

The candidates are given 3 marks for
each correct answer. All the question (MCQ and Non-MCQ questions) contains
equal marks. (NEGATIVE MARKING) For every wrong answer one mark will be
deducted.
Reason to pursue and take CAT:
Common Admission Test (CAT) is much
more important for students who desire to make a career in MBA (Masters in
Management) in higher studies. By the score of CAT result, you can get
admission into IIMs and top business schools.
CAT is a gateway for admission to
top-ranked MBA colleges. Colleges that accept CAT scores offer excellent
placement opportunities. CAT evaluates candidates based on their knowledge,
aptitude, and skills.
· As CAT is held in the months of November, at
least a year before exam, is the best time to begin/start your preparation.
· Time to prepare for CAT is completely
dependent on the students/candidates efficiency, understanding and
conceptual.
· Around 6-7months is the best time to prepare
for CAT as you are thinking to do CAT and if you are already in touch with
basic studies.
· It would be desirable to devote around 25-30
hours weeks towards preparation for CAT exam. As per my knowledge, many
students who have joined coaching before 3-6months of CAT exam have cracked the
exam and have secured admission int9o the IIMs.
· Coaching Institutes are not mandatory for CAT
preparation. By doing Self preparation several
students have achieved a score of 99 percent.
Scope in foreign university with CAT exam:
Some of the institutes in foreign
country like USA, France, UAE, Singapore, Norway, and Germany, they accept CAT
score for admission in MBA Programs. So you can go and study there from the
beginning.
